About WiDS

Hailed as one of the best careers of the 21st century, data science jobs have grown 650% since 2012, according to LinkedIn. Are you curious about what data scientists do, what backgrounds they have, and how you can become a data scientist yourself?

Join us for the Women in Data Science (WiDS) Claremont conference on April 1, 2022! The 5C conference is supported by the Departments of Economics, Mathematics + Statistics, and Computer Science, as well as the President and VP + Dean of the College of Pomona College, and both the Quantitative Skills Center at Pomona and the 5C Office of Consortial Academic Collaboration.

As of 2020, just 18% of data scientists are women. We bring you three remarkable senior women data scientists as keynote speakers. You will also hear from a few stellar Pomona alumnae who are pursuing careers in data science.

Learn about the impact and ethics of data science, and how we can harness data for social good. Learn how your liberal arts education positions you perfectly for this quintessentially interdisciplinary field.
